I got the idea of doing a new piece about immigrants a few weeks ago. I talked with several people about it that were knowlegeable about the subject of what happened to immigrants in Minneapolis this year. But yesterday and today I talked with two immigrants that lived through the situation and it is always interesting that, although some basic facts remain the same, there are many things that were lurking under the surface which I learned only because I talked with these two people.

September 2026
I am currently in Minneapolis. I came here to do research for a new immigrants piece. As you may know, I composed a piece called The Immigrants in 2019 with a McKnight Visiting Composer grant which is in this website. After what has been happening this year, I decided I needed to do a new work and I have been doing interviews and looking around.
August 2026
I am currently in Perth, Australia, having a change of airs, of atmosphere, of seasons and hopefully, a couple of changes of mind.
